Maintaining Independence in the Face of Disability

Elderly individuals are at a greater risk for many debilitating injuries and conditions that due to age, can make the concept of independence seem like little more than a pipe dream.

Finding workable solutions in the form of one or a combination of care solutions may be the way to maintain independence even in the face of a serious issue.

Respite Care: There For The Caregiver

When you are in the situation where you are caring for a loved one, it can change the overall dynamic of a relationship.  It is difficult caring for an aging loved one, no matter the relationship.  Watching someone degenerate from their ‘old selves’ isn’t easy by far.  While typically it is a child caring for an aging parent, the relationships can still vary vastly.

At times, it is more than understandable to need a break, and it is better for you as well as your loved one if you do take them when you need them.  While you may still be worried about your loved one, there are options available to you when the time comes that you need a bit of time to yourself to help process everything.
