The UK is having an Awareness Week dedicated to finding solutions and raising money for dementia help. Raising awareness about issues effecting the elderly is a very important step in gaining exposure, and hopefully help and healing for those effected by the issues. It does seem that there is an awareness week for many different issues effecting the general worldwide population, while they may seem to be nothing more than a simple nice thing- they do show some progress.

The FDA (Federal Food and Drug Administration) has approved a miniature telescope to help those with macular degeneration to improve their eyesight. The new technology was approved on July 6, 2010 and the goal for it is to help those with a specific end-stage related macular degeneration. Essentially this exciting new technology is for those with age-related sight problems.

Officials and others are warning that the high temperatures of these warmer months are costing many more lives than anyone would prefer to see. While the average advice is aimed more at parents of young children, the same can be said about those caring for the elderly as well.
CDC: West Nile Strikes Elderly Hardest

The CDC is warning the elderly and those that are around them to be wary of mosquitoes. The creatures are testing positive and sickening people with West Nile virus, while overall the statistics are showing that the infection rate is lower than it was in 2001, the disease still poses an increased risk to those with a lowered immune system, and among the hardest hit by the disease are elderly patients.
