The CareBot: Helping Caregivers Helping the Elderly

It seems that such a short time ago science fiction writers dreamt about robotics that could be used to help people in need.  They dreamed up fantastic contraptions and characters to help humanity, and while it doesn’t look like they were entirely spot on, as these robotics don’t have much in the way of a personality as of yet, they can (and are) already assisting people.

Despite Increased Funding, Nursing Homes Still Face Many Issues

Despite a broad funding approach to nursing homes, many are still facing many large problems.  Problems range from cleanliness to considerably more severe problems with the patients in their care.

The state that is being presently hit the hardest is California, even with the passing of new laws governing care and insurance. People have been pointing to the Nursing Home Quality Care Act of 2004 which awarded more funds to help nursing homes meet a better standard of patient care. They are wondering now where the money is going, and why problems haven’t been corrected.

It is natural to be worried over how a loved one is treated, especially with being further away than you may like.  No matter who you are caring for, or worried about- it’s normal.  There are signs and symptoms that you can look out for to see if your loved one is being taken care of, and watching out for those is the first step in finding out if anything more serious is going on.

One of the largest issues facing the elderly is ‘Brain Fog’ and the problem will only be getting worse it seems with the aging baby boomer population.  A report on a study states that a whopping 12% of people those who experience memory problems go on to develop some form of Dementia or Alzheimer’s, a much more serious condition that affects many and their overall quality of life.
