Keeping Up With an Aging Loved One

Finding ways to stay in touch with an aging loved one has never been easier.  From simpler and more normal solutions to the more modern and advanced, finding a way to keep up to date on the life of a loved one is easier today, and has more options than ever before.

The internet is a great place to start, with social networking and communities popping up all the time, it’s not a surprise that there are now ones that are designed to help families and loved ones stay in touch with each other.

Some of the options are:

Lotsa Helping Hands:

From their website:”

Lotsa Helping Hands is a private, web-based caregiving coordination service that allows family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues to create a community to assist a family caregiver with the daily tasks that become a challenge during times of medical crisis, caregiver exhaustion, or when caring for an elderly parent.

Lotsa Helping Hands is designed to be a private network that is invitation only (only those that you allow can see it).  You don’t have to worry about prying eyes reading things that they have no business reading, which is an understandable and common concern.

In addition to the more social websites, you can find options to get information on the overall health and wellbeing of a family member using special services that you can easily check from your home computer.  The New York Times highlights the technology in an article as well.

While there are many other options out there, at times just knowing that your loved one is safe and healthy can ease your worries.  Of course, in addition to phone calls and visits, technology can help bring families closer, even when one is worried.
