Nintendo’s Wii gaming system is really one of the only ones that people who are all ages can quickly and easily play, and they are. It’s the first gaming system that has bridged so many age gaps.
There also some more interested news involving the Wii. Studies are showing that not only is it really fun for any age group, it also may be showing strides in helping the the elderly get through rehabilitation therapy.
The Wii Fit’s balance board (which shows an animated avatar of you) shows and records your movements and progresses in balancing. According to one of the doctors in the study:
Falls are the most common cause of accidental injury in older people and the most common cause of accidental deaths in 75-year-olds and over.”
It is hoped that using the Wii Fit’s balance board can improve elderly people’s balance and confidence.
The exact study is taking a look at the Wii Fit game, and it’s positive effects on balance in rehabilitating older adults. Nothing is completely certain quite yet, but many think the unofficial results they have seen in themselves are proof enough. The Wii has helped out a surprising amount of people, with everything from exercise to it’s intended entertainment uses. It’s simple to use and has a wide variety of games for it, the Wii Fit is among the most popular game for the system.
