Tech giants Intel and GE are working to form an of yet unnamed company that will be working to help the elderly.  The two companies will be combining their health IT technology funding to form and grow a company meant to help provide technology related medical care.

The Future of Health Care

By 2050 the elderly population will grow by a huge percentage and there will be a total of 90 million Americans out of the total population that is 65 and older. There are no industries that won’t be effected by this, and many are looking into ways to make sure that the growing percentage won’t be negatively impacted by so many in their peer group.

While most people get stuck in bed and miserable for a while, it can post much more severe issues for those with certain risk factors. In the elderly, pneumonia can be absolutely disastrous. Even if the disease itself is treatable, it can  easily create much more serious issues very quickly.

Medicare fraud is on the rise, and those looking for ways to scam some quick cash from the elderly seems to be a growing list. With many confused about the ongoing talks from government officials, more people have fallen for these scams than ever before. There are many elderly people out there who are worried about the state of their Medicare coverage, and with that worry may come an increased uncertainty about Medicare. Combined, this is setting up more people to fall for fraud that they wouldn’t otherwise.

New Findings Suggest Dementia May be Helped

While it is hard to treat dementia after it gets more severe, it may be possible to ward off a portion of the effects according to scientists.  While the studies are still ongoing and nothing is absolutely proven, especially with so many studies still ongoing.  The ongoing research seems to suggest that leading a healthier lifestyle and getting enough vitamin E may lower chances of getting dementia later in life.  Other studies are presently looking into other warning signs that someone is at a higher risk of developing dementia in later years.

Elderly Care - Hospice Care

The UK is having an Awareness Week dedicated to finding solutions and raising money for dementia help. Raising awareness about issues effecting the elderly is a very important step in gaining exposure, and hopefully help and healing for those effected by the issues.  It does seem that there is an awareness week for many different issues effecting the general worldwide population, while they may seem to be nothing more than a simple nice thing- they do show some progress.
